Long Beach Transportation
Whether it’s by car, train, bus or BICYCLE, Southern California’s transit system and super freeway links assure that you’ll be whisked to and from the downtown gates of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach with minimum delay.
Long Beach Transit takes you just about anywhere you want to go in the city, with 38 bus routes providing fast, reliable service in air-conditioned comfort. Each route is computer-scheduled with pickup points nearly every two blocks, and all of Long Beach Transit’s routes are wheelchair (and surfboard!) accessible.
Visit www.lbtransit.com for route information.
A state-of-the-art facility at 221 E. First St. in downtown Long Beach – Bikestation Long Beach – provides free supervised parking for cyclists and public transit riders and also includes bike repairs, rentals, a snack bar and specialty shop.
Metrolink’s basic routes cover more than 400 miles of SoCal with service from Oxnard, Lancaster, San Bernardino and Riverside, as well as Orange County/LA and Inland Empire/Orange County. Information: www.metrolinktrains.com.
The Metro Blue Line is also fast and convenient, with the Blue Line’s 22-mile service beginning at 7th Street in downtown L.A. and dropping passengers off at First and Pine, just one block from the race circuit. Metro Blue Line also links easily with the Metro Red and Green lines, making it an ideal traffic-beater. Find out more at www.metro.net.
