Van-conversion fans can explore 'ultimate' vehicles for road trips
from Orange County Auto Show
Explorer Van Co. conversions, such as this GMC Savana, feature custom body kits, gaming ports and a 27 inch high-definition television.
Explorer Van Co. will showcase the "ultimate SUVs," the GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express conversion vans, during the 2008-model Orange County Auto Show. The vans, customized by Explorer, will be on the main floor in the Anaheim Convention Center.
Explorer van conversions are among the automotive industry's best-kept secrets, and their exposure at the Orange County Auto Show gives consumers a chance to experience the wide range on amenities the custom vehicles offer at an affordable price, said Gary Miller, sales manager of Explorer Van Co.
"The modern vans have more room inside and get better gas mileage than the full-size SUVs at about the same sticker price," Miller said. "But if it's an SUV you want but require a more personal vehicle than what the factory offers, Explorer has the Tahoe, Yukon or Avalanche for you. They've restyled with their own 'glove leather' seating, special fade paint treatments, 22-inch wheels and tires and a bevy of other personal touches just not offered at the factory level."
At the Orange County Auto Show, Explorer conversions will showcase a display of low- and high-top conversions featuring custom body kits, 20-inch chrome wheels, gaming and computer ports and a 27-inch, flat-screen high-definition television.
Explorer also will exhibit a line of restyled SUVs and trucks with agressive designs and custom features including 22-inch wheels, body kits and custom exhaust. The standard features in today's vans have been dramatically updated from the vans of the 1980s and offer better fuel economy and all-wheel drive.
The GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express Explorer conversion vans offer segment-exclusive all-wheel drive with leather
captain's chairs and plenty of space to move around inside the vehicle. Coupled with improvements in safety, design, technology and entertainment amenities, today's conversion vans are virtual "living rooms on wheels" -- the ultimate weekend or everyday travel vehicle for recreation, tailgating and outdoor activities.
Explorer conversion vans also come with driver-side swing-out doors, dual-zone music systems, an onboard navigation system and available XM Satellite Radio. Even satellite TV is an option.
The Explorer GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express have received the federal government's highest frontal-crash-test safety rating for the driver and front passenger. Other safety and security features include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.
