Classif name makes comeback with Pininfarina style
from Maserati

The new Maserati Gran Turismo, styled by Pininfarina, is a muscular and sporty car that can be enjoyed every day.

The GranTurismo is built with particular attention to comfort, choice of materials and details and has enough room for four people.

The GranTurismo is a high-performance sports car with a 4.2-liter V-8 engine delivering 405 horsepower. Weight distribution is 49 percent at the front and 51 percent at the rear. The car is fitted with an automatic gearbox and an adaptive control system that adjusts the gear-shifting mode to driving styles and conditions.

Maserati's Gran Turismo concept dates to 1947, when the Trident Co., following its clients' demands, unveiled its first Gran Turismo at the Geneva Auto Show. The car was designed by renowned Pinin Farina, based on the racing chassis of the A6.

It was the first Maserati road car and was produced in 58 units. The vehicle was acclaimed by the automotive media for its technical content and avant-garde styling.

The name of the latest model -- Maserati GranTurismo -- is not incidental. Again, the partnership between Maserati and the Pininfarina company has produced a car that is able to generate emotions and set itself apart from the competitors due to its building technique and unique style.

The new GranTurismo represents a further step toward completion of the Trident product range, following the worldwide launch of the Quattroporte Automatic at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detriot.
